Semarang (10/02), the Electronics and Instrumentation Team (Elins), Department of Physics, Universitas Diponegoro, introduced the use of artificial intelligence (AI) technology in physics courses at MAN 1 Semarang City, Central Java. This activity served as a form of dissemination of research results and community service, particularly for students.

The activity opened with remarks from Mr. H. Sukat, S.Ag., M.Pd.I., the principal of MAN 1 Semarang City. The event continued with an introduction of the community service team and the Physics Department by Mr. Dhani Nur Indra Syamputra, M.Sc., and a demonstration of research results produced by the Physics Department, specifically the Elins research group.

In the main event, the community service team introduced AI technology in physics learning, specifically the use of image processing to recognize user hand gestures, which can be used to help visualize equations in physics. This technology is the result of research for Syehan Husain Salsabila’s final thesis project, who also led the demonstration. Students were very enthusiastic about the demonstration, participating in the demonstration and experimenting with the system.

The activity continued with an experiment on building a simple water level monitoring device based on an Arduino microcontroller, and concluded with a discussion and consultation session on scientific papers by Mr. Jatmiko Endro Suseno, Ph.D., F.Med.

This activity is expected to provide students with a deeper understanding of artificial intelligence technology, instrumentation electronics, and physics concepts that have been studied abstractly in classical classrooms.
