Hello, physicist!

Jendela Rumah Kita is an ongoing event organized by Physics Department Diponegoro University and is a Teaching Physics Alumni program in facilitating physics students in particular to gain knowledge through the stories of great speakers from alumni and other great figures.

Jendela Rumah Kita series 8 discusses Artificial Intelligence in the world of physics with Mr. Nur Hamid, a Physics Alumni 2009 who is pursuing a Doctoral Education at Kanazawa University, Japan.

About Source

He is the father of Nur Hamid Alumni of Physics Undip (2011-2015) who is also currently pursuing a PhD of Computer Science at Kanazawa University. He was named best paper award for AI IoT and Computer Vision Track in IEEE TENSYMP in Dhaka, Bangladesh in 2020. He is the recipient of a bidakmisi scholarship (S1), LPDP Scholarship (S2) and MAXT scholarship (doctor program). Many research publications that he has carried out are one of them in the title“Automatic LIDAR building sementation based on DGCNN and Euclidean clustering”.

Artificial Intelligence

Artificial intelligence is a simulation of intelligence possessed by humans that is modeled inside a machine and programmed to think like a human. Artificial Intelligence includes Mechine Learning, Natural Language Processing (NLP), Speech, Expert Systems, Planning, Scheduling & Optimization, Robotics, Vision. How the car can run well without driving (Self-Flying Rocket), or how the engine can do the dialogue as we want (Walking Robot). The AI in the field of Physical Science applied in research is:

  1. Theoretical physics, AI can be applied in the study of particle physics, namely how to model a transformation so that it can analyze the models that appear. In addition, Columbia researchers have used mechine learning to detect gravitational waves.
  2. Electronic Physics and Instrumentation is that AI can be used as an instrument in calculation and measurement more practically.
  3. Geophysics, for example the use of LIDAR data is 3-dimensional data by processing segmentation data to recognize building and non-building parts
  4. Medical Physics, how AI can be applied in radioterapy treatment planning
  5. Material physics, how maching learning is used to analyze physical matter, is also used modeling a material.

In the future, there will be a short course for several meetings so that students can conduct further research with software about artificial intelligence and its application.
