On November 9, Diponegoro University Physics student Muhammad Ghulam Raihan, together with one other participant from the University of Indonesia, Fany Zahra Hanifa, completed a two-week academic visit at the Department of Radiation Oncology, Universitätsklinikum Freiburg, Germany. The program was fully funded through the DAAD SDG Mobility Programme, which supports international collaboration in higher education and research.
During the program, the participants learned about modern radiotherapy practices, including adaptive radiotherapy workflows, radiobiology-based treatment planning, and taking part in weekly QA procedures with medical physicists. They also gained insights into various current research topics, such as machine-learning–based auto-segmentation for GBM and CT number evaluation in CBCT imaging for adaptive radiotherapy.
In addition to the academic activities, the students also explored the culture and natural surroundings of Freiburg, visiting the Freiburg Münster, Titisee, Feldberg, as well as nearby cities such as Strasbourg (France) and Basel (Switzerland). This mobility program provided valuable experiences for developing competencies, clinical understanding, and professional networking, while also strengthening Indonesia’s contribution to the field of medical physics.
