The Sigmaxxim Debate Team from the Physics Study Program, Faculty of Science and Mathematics, Diponegoro University, Class of 2022, successfully won 3rd place in the 2025 National Energy Debate Competition organized by Dunia Energi. The competition took place at the Graha Elnusa Building in South Jakarta and featured top teams from various prestigious universities across Indonesia.
The Sigmaxxim team, consisting of Wahyu Budi Utomo (Team Leader), Syahraini Nafilah (Member 1), and Deni Yarsah (Member 2), successfully navigated through various stages of the competition, ultimately securing the third position in this prestigious event.
The team’s journey began with a scientific article selection, where they competed against 68 teams from universities across Indonesia. After passing the initial selection, the Sigmaxxim team advanced to the top 32 and continued their journey to the final round.
In the top 32, the Sigmaxxim team defeated the IPB University team and moved on to the round of 16, where they triumphed over the UIN Jakarta team. Their winning streak continued into the quarterfinals, where they overcame the Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) team.
In the semifinal and final rounds, the Sigmaxxim team competed at the Graha Elnusa Building in South Jakarta, facing tough opponents from the PLN Institute of Technology (IT PLN). Although they had to acknowledge the strength of their opponents, the Sigmaxxim team managed to secure 3rd place in the 2025 National Energy Debate Competition.
This success was made possible by the outstanding support from Diponegoro University alumni, particularly those from the UNDIP Physics Alumni Association, including the Geophysics Study Group. The alumni provided incentives in the form of accommodation, transportation, pocket money, and moral support as official supporters throughout the competition in Jakarta. This solidarity demonstrated that support for UNDIP students not only comes from the campus but also from the alumni network spread across the country.
The National Energy Debate Competition is a competitive event that challenges students to develop innovative ideas in the fields of energy, sustainability, and national energy policy. FISIKA UNDIP hopes that this success will inspire other students to continue excelling, competing, and making real contributions to the world of energy and scientific research.
