The Medical Physicist Professional Program at UNDIP has placed 24 students at Kariadi General Hospital in Semarang and 11 students at Sardjito General Hospital in Yogyakarta. The placement of students in hospitals is part of practical learning in clinical settings, aimed at developing clinical skills as outlined in the professional standards of the Minister of Health Decree No. 322 of 2020. The competencies to be achieved include: 1. Noble Professionalism; 2. Self-Reflection and Self-Development; 3. Effective Communication; 4. Information Management; 5. Scientific Foundation of Physics and Its Applications in Medicine; 6. Clinical Medical Physics Skills; and 7. Management of Testing and Calibration of Ionizing and Non-Ionizing Medical Radiation Devices.
For the next year, students will be effectively placed in interventional diagnostic radiology, radiotherapy, and nuclear medicine departments. In the hospitals, medical physicist students are mentored by hospital-based medical physicists. The core topics of study include equipment acceptance and commissioning, patient and equipment dosimetry, quality assurance of equipment, and radiation protection.
Currently, cooperation agreements for student placements exist with Kariadi General Hospital, Sardjito General Hospital, and Santosa Kopo Bandung Hospital. Looking ahead, collaboration agreements are being established with Adam Malik General Hospital in Medan, Murni Teguh Memorial Hospital in Medan, Mandara Regional Hospital in Bali, and Ngurah General Hospital in Bali. This will increase the capacity of the Medical Physicist Professional Program, enhancing the number of graduates and addressing the national demand for medical physicists, specifically those at Level 7 of the National Qualifications Framework (KKNI).
