Hello, physicist!
Jendela Rumah Kita is an ongoing event organized by Physics Department, Diponegoro University and is a Teaching Physics Alumni program in facilitating physics students in particular to look at history and gain knowledge through the stories of great speakers from alumni and other great figures.
Jendela Rumah Kita series 2 is very interesting, which is about how physics in the world of metrology speaks. With him, Mrs. Nurlathifah, S.Si, M.A. He is the Coordinator of the National Standards Substantsi Group unit of length of the National Standardization Agency (BSN). It’s interesting, isn’t it? Let’s take a look at his presentation!
About Source
Nurlatifah’s mother, S.Si, M.A was born on July 23, 1978 in Biak, Papua. He was a student of S1 Physics at Diponegoro University in 1996-2001 and studied physics at Western Michigan University USA in 2017-2020. Various activities he has been through one of them became a participant in “Job Training in the best best practice of standard development at DIN” in Berlin, Germany in 2007. As for his career experience began in 2002 to occupy the position as Techincal officer of Environment and Miscellaneous Devision, Center for Standard Development-BSN until 2020 until now become Head of National Measurament Standars Laboraroty for Length – (BSN)
About Career
Physicists, in the world of work, have a lot of challenges that ahrus faced. The number of jobs is not in accordance with the area of interest we take during the lecture. When the career we are engaged in goes rhythmically with passion then it will be a very happy thing. Many things can be implemented from Physics and everyday life, physics is broad depending on how a person thinks. Many people seek information about your career (Qualifications, Skills, Salary and Work Location) and prepare for the challenges of the world of work.
The things to consider when a job interview is as follows:
- Pay attention to appearance, appearance when interviewing should be neat and polite and formal.
- Attitute, don’t be overconfident and overly proud of something
- Self-branding, must be able to offer the quality of self releven with the profession that is applied.
Standardization and Conformity Assessment (SPK)
Standards can be interpreted as documents that contain the provisions, guidelines and or characteristics of an activity, process and system or product made in consensus, determined by the competent institution and used in general and repeatedly to obtain the optimum level of order in view of certain needs of its output in the form of the determination of SNI or Indonesian National Standards. The standards agency in Indonesia is the National Standards Agency (BSN) while the International Standardization Agency is named ISO(International Organization for Standardization),a special standards institution in the field of electricity, namely the International Electrotechnical Commison (IEC) and the food sector, the Codex Alimentarius Commission (CAC). In the issuance of SNI contains technical requirements at least attached to the process system or product.
Conformity assessment agency (LPK)
- Conformity assessment agency (LPK) is an institution that conducts conformity assessment activities (testing, inspection, and/or certification).
- Accreditation is a series of formal recognition activities by KAN against an institution, institution, or laboratory has competence and has the right to carry out conformity assessments.
- Certification is a series of conformity assessment activities related to providing written assurance that goods, services, systems, processes, or personalities have met relevant standards, regulations or technical requirements.
Metrology
Metrology is a measurement science, a discipline that studies the ways of measurement, calibration and accuracy in the field of science and technology industries. Metrology in Indonesia is divided into 2, namely:
- Legal metrology is the Directorate of Metrology, Ministry of Trade
- Technical/scientific metrology is deputy for national standards unit of measure, BSN
Magnitude, Unit and Calibration
Magnitude is the nature of an object that can be objectively compared (measured). Units are used as a comparison or reference. A measuring instrument must calibrate. The basic principle of calibration is the approval of standard reference measuring instruments and correcting the designation of measuring instruments. What is the error of measuring device designation does the error exceed the permissible limit whether the measuring instrument is worth using? Calibration must answer all of these questions without eliminating tool errors. Before calibrating the measuring instrument, make a mathematical model by paying attention to several sources of uncertainty. Examples of sources of uncertainty for micrometer calibration include, repeatability, measuring device resolution, temperature change to reference temperature (20 oC), difference in micrometer and standard temperature, coefficient of thermal muai, standard drif, correction of g,and geometric errors.
Conclusion
Physics in metrology has a very important role, namely all aspects of metrology in association with the basic theory of physics, especially the development of measurement or calibration methods. With the laws of physics, we know the basic formulas, which can be interrelated. Metrology will end in Statistical Physics, Control Systems and Computational Physics.
