Academic Collaboration: Visit of UNAIR Physics Lecturers to UNDIP Physics for Synergy in Education Management
Semarang, November 25, 2024 – The Physics Department of Universitas Diponegoro (UNDIP) warmly welcomed a visit from the lecturers of Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) Surabaya, led by Prof. Dr. Suryani. This visit served as a valuable opportunity to exchange insights and experiences in various aspects of academic management, including curriculum design, student management, and financial administration.
During the discussion, Prof. Dr. Heri Sutanto, S.Si., M.Si., F.Med, Head of the UNDIP Physics Department, presented the department’s current state. With a total of 185 active students, UNDIP Physics faces challenges in ensuring effective class scheduling. The goal is to provide students with equal learning opportunities, particularly for the same courses taught by the same lecturers, despite being divided into four different classes.
Academic supervision management is also a key focus. Each lecturer within the Field of Expertise Group (Kelompok Bidang Keahlian, KBK) supervises approximately eight students per cohort. Additionally, UNDIP routinely holds biannual academic dialogues to listen to students’ aspirations and continuously improve the quality of education.
Improving facilities has become a priority for UNDIP to support student competencies. Recently, the UNDIP Physics Laboratory received multi-billion-rupiah funding for advanced equipment procurement. This is expected to assist students in achieving their goals after graduation.
The visit concluded with high hopes for establishing a close and productive collaboration between UNAIR Physics and UNDIP Physics. This synergy is anticipated to create a positive impact on both institutions in nurturing outstanding future generations in the field of physics.
