Medical Radiation Protection Officers (MRPO) are highly necessary and mandated by the Nuclear Energy Regulatory Agency (BAPETEN) in work installations related to nuclear energy utilization. The MRPO training includes medical and industrial categories, namely MRPO 1, MRPO 2, and MRPO 3. Similarly, there are industrial MRPO categories ranging from Industrial 1 to Industrial 3.
The MRPO 1 training at Undip will be held from May 15th to May 26th, 2023, at Smart Solution, Faculty of Science and Mathematics, Undip. There will be a total of 23 participants from hospitals, importing companies, and testing and calibration companies.
This MRPO 1 training is focused on the scope of radiotherapy and nuclear medicine installations. Participants include Medical Physicists, Radiographers, Medical Electronics Technicians, Mechanical Engineers, and Electrical Engineers.
The topics covered during the training include safety culture, organizational management systems, basic radiation physics, radiation protection fundamentals, radiation measurement devices, biological effects of radiation, occupational exposure protection, medical exposure protection, nuclear energy regulations, transport of radioactive materials, radioactive source security, radioactive waste management, and related practical exercises.
The examination for the Work Permit Letter (SIB) for specific MRPO personnel, conducted by BAPETEN, will take place on May 26th, 2023. Hopefully, the acquired knowledge will be beneficial and the participants will pass the examination, obtaining the Work Permit Letter (SIB) as MRPO Medik 1.
The report by the committee chairperson, Prof. Dr. Heri Sutanto, S.Si., F.Med., M.Si., was followed by the closing of the training by the Dean of FSM, Prof. Dr. Widowati S.Si., M.Si., who emphasized the importance of continuous learning and performing well as MRPO Medik 1 in the future.
Additionally, Zaenal Arifin S.Si., F.Med., M.Si., Manager of Smart Solution FSM Undip, added that the first batch of training has been successfully completed, and MRPO Medik 1 training batch 2 will be held at FSM Undip from June 5th to June 16th, 2023.
