Dr. Eng. Wildan Panji Tresna, a researcher from the National Research and Innovation Agency’s (BRIN) Photonics Research Center, has successfully secured the 2023 Postdoctoral Program grant from Diponegoro University. Through this postdoctoral program, Dr. Eng. Wildan will engage in a series of activities at the Department of Physics, Diponegoro University, including giving guest lectures, collaborative research, and signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Faculty of Science and Mathematics (FSM) and the BRIN Photonics Research Center. These activities are scheduled to take place from October to December 2023.<\/p>

The Postdoctoral Program began with a general presentation held on Monday, October 2, 2023, in the Old Dean’s Office Building on the 3rd floor of the Faculty of Science and Mathematics. This event featured four Postdoctoral Researchers from the Faculty of Science and Mathematics, including one researcher from the Department of Physics, two from the Department of Chemistry, and one from the Department of Biology. Around 100 students from the Faculty of Science and Mathematics attended this general presentation.<\/p>

During this general presentation, Dr. Eng. Wildan presented on the topic of “Design Optimization of Fiber Optic-Based SPR Sensor using Finite-Difference Time-Domain (FDTD) Methods for Heavy Metal Detection.” In his presentation, he designed an SPR sensor based on fiber optics for the detection of heavy metals such as Hg, Pb, and Cr. The sensor can detect various heavy metals with high sensitivity, with a detection limit reaching 100 parts per million (ppm). Compared to other standard detection methods, this SPR sensor can be used to detect heavy metals in liquid samples without requiring complex sample preparation.<\/p>

Further activities include the signing of a collaboration agreement between the Faculty of Science and Mathematics at Diponegoro University and the BRIN Photonics Research Center, which is planned for the end of October 2023. This collaboration aims to advance research on the potential of metal nanoparticles as SPR sensors to enhance detection sensitivity for heavy metals.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t
